Dont you love how terrible they are at reporting the results and showing the highlights of premier league games. I Wanted to see the goals and sears' in paticular. Instead i was treated to detailed analysis of the top 4 teams results and then 2 random goals from pompey and then 2 random goals from our game.

The guy presenting the report had no real idea. Do they realise there are actually 20 clubs in the league? Cos they make me wonder sometimes. There are people out there who truely couldnt give two shits about the fortunes of Manure, Chel$ki, Arse or liverpool, but thats all we ever get!

And even then that normally comes 30 minutes into the program cos they have to look at and discuss ever little aspect of the Farce that is AFL. Even Rugby League and Union only get a brief glance in comparison to the GAYFL.

OK im gonna stop venting. But man is it annoying

What do you expect from Australian media? If there weren't Australians in the EPL I'm sure they wouldn't give two shits about any of the matches

Well there were no Australians in the six nations (funnily enough) but they showed a fair bit of that.

It got better as the day progressed but it was piss poor.

I was annoyed at them a few days back as well after the ACL games. Melbourne and Adelaide both posted good victories but do you think they showed any Adelaide highlights the morning after? As for Melbourne, well they could have won the grand final for all i know the way they carried on and showed like 5 minutes of highlights.

Similar with the "top 4" situation in the EPL.

/end rant

Get used to it Jen, WH always get bad press, always have, always will. Don't matter if it's in Oz or the UK, if you're not one of the 'chosen' sides you get shit.

Whats with the shit canning of other codes of football, particularly AFL?

If you ignorant pricks had ever been to Melbourne you would understand that this place is THE most passionate sporting town in Australia and probably the world. Not only that but they are knowledgable across all sports. For you to call Australian Rules GAYFL and a Farce shows what an ignorant pile of shyte you are.

I myself am Australian born and raised and I have absolutely no connection AT ALL to Great Britain in anyway, yet I've found myself becoming a massive follower of the international game and in particularly the EPL. I sit up most Satdy nights at home waiting for the coverage to start and cheer on the Hammers. This AFTER Ive spent 6 hours in the sun on a Satdy arvo busting my ass playing cricket. Some weeks if I find the time and the Mrs lets me, I take the young fella along to watch the Victory play at the Dome as well.

Come winter, as a member of the Brisbane Lions (I'm an ex QLDer who's played both rugby's and aussie rules at senior level and 'soccer' right thru high school so I'm pretty qualified on the matter) I get to every game I can down here in Melbourne and when they don't visit for a while, I go watch the Storm flog which ever poor saps roll into town.
Then theres the rugby internationals we get, I am a Wallaby freak so anytime theyre here, so am I.

The point to all this is that I am a SPORTS fan. There are some sports I probably wouldn't go see and theres a lot I probably don't know about, BUT I would never bring myself to the level of slagging off some other sport or code JUST because I don't get into or understand it. That to me, is just plain ignorance (seems to be the only word I can use at the moment, I wonder why?).

The reason you ask why Fox Sports give the air time to AFL over both rugby codes is obvious, its the only truly national code here. Complain all you like but they are the facts, they did it first and they do it best. You only have to look at the interstate ie: non-Victorian clubs success over the last 15 years. League dont have that yet outside the Eastern sea board and Union doesnt venture enough Sth of the Murray. Now, they are the 3 established codes of football in Australia. 'Soccer' doesnt come close to them here yet. For years and years it has been a basketcase, with no organisation able to get it right. Finally the A League has got its act together and is moving in the right direction, and the A League is starting to get the airplay it deserves.

The EPL is exactly that....the ENGLISH Premier League. The big 4 clubs are the big 4 clubs for a reason. Of course the news carriers here in Australia are going to give select coverage to a DOMESTIC competition from abroad, why would they give more time to it? And as has been mentioned, the main reason it gets as much as it does is because of the Australian players. Thems the facts and I don't see why that should or would change. I'll play devils advocate and ask why don't we see more of the Serie A or the Primera Liga, we have Aussies playing there. What about the English Super League, theres a bucket load of money hungry Aussies running around there too. County Cricket? What about in the UK, how much coverage would the NRL receive? If I asked you why that was, what would you say?

Bottom line is, this is Australia, we have an established culture of sport built up over 130 years. Don't expect or demand for 1 minute that thats gonna change cos some ignorant cunt sooks about it. Thank fuck you live in the era of the internet and cable TV, I'd hate to hear your pathetic fucking whinging before that.

Peace out and go Hammers.

AND, no doubt when some Aussie wanker calls football 'wogball', youre the first bloke to rag up about it aren't ya? Its these sort of opinions (both sides) which mean this game will NEVER reach its full public support potential in this country.
I havent got a 4skin, does that make me bad?

For A Start i am A Born and Bred Australian, Im White and have lived in this country for all but 3 years of my life. The only conection i have to the UK is i lived there for 2 years. I too am a sports fan and like you there are some sprorts i wont go to see. And One of those is AFL. I HAVE been to Melbourne and call me ignorant if you want but i do know the rules of the game however, quite simply, I DONT LIKE IT. Any Sport in which you get a point for missing the goals is absolutely ludicrous me. Its a fucking encouragement award. Bad Luck son have a point for your troubles.

I'm a foruth generation South Sydney fan as well as a previous season ticket holder As well as a NSW Waratahs fan. I'm also a fan Of Sydney FC in the A-league. Now that i live in Queensland my opputrtunities to see these teams are obviously limited but i went to the 1 souths game up here last year, as well as a few in Sydney. Im Also going to the one up here this season. This is all to prove that I AM a sports fan.

We can argue all we want about a TRUE national code, but League was developed here too. Once there were teams all over the country until they slimmed it all down into the NRL.

As for what they show they atleast don't have to put it first. Almost anytime i have a look on Foxsports news the first thing i get is up to 20 minutes of something i don't care about. They sometimes even cover SURFING before football. Surfing is a freaking hobby not a proper sport.

And bottom line, I AINT NO IGNORANT CUNT! This is Australia, which probably explains why i'm so eager to move away from this place. And As a matter of fact i do complain when its called '"Wogball" cos its fucking racist.
