Sorry I didn't get this up before the game - have an exam Monday things bit crazy atm.

Anyway 1-0 not the greatest performance but not the worst either. Although we had a slice of luck - as curbs says these things even themselves out and there nothing in the Birmingham Penalty a couple of weeks ago.

And.....

We're no longer 10th for now we occupy 9th spot.

So to sum up february everybody was expecting 9 points. I did warn that wouldn't happen and although 4 is disappointing we're now at the 40 point mark which is a great acheivement for the season to have hit that so early.

Considering our luck in the first 2 games 4 points is fine by me. This game, i felt, JUST went the right way. Wh Edged it with a very lucky goal. BUt i felt on the balance of play the win went the right way. We played some good football in the second half after doing nothing before and when nobby came up on he really livened up the game.

He played some beautiful balls one in paticular that tony gale kept going on about with the outside of his right boot straight through to ljungburg (who should have shot)

Anyway we've got our own Maradona in Nobby Laughing Handball but i'll take it. At first i thought it had stopped just before the line and was gonna get cleared. I was very happy to find out that wasn't the case.

Ljungburg put in another decent display but needs to learn when to shoot.

I was also surprised at a... competent? display by LBM. Cole had another great game, he was really trying and fashioning chances and probably deserved a goal or two.

Noble played well with his nose all bent out of shape and was also unlucky not to pick up a goal after a good 1-2 just outside the box.

They were the stand outs, and ashton didnt play to badly either. Finally a player that knows when to take the ball into the corner. I really didnt trust lbm enough to want to see him get the ball at the end there.

Oh well 3 points has taken us to the usual required mark of 40 and up to 9th. Looking at some of the fixtures we've got. If we can get even half the run of form we got this point last year then we have an outside chance of pushing for Europe (don't hold your breath though).

Scrappy game but think we just about deserved it.

PS -Lucas Neill, YOU are the weakest link, goodbye
Worst performance by Lucas I've seen and he's had some bad ones this season. I lost count of the amount of times he gave the ball away!Dreadful.

Yeah on that mate - do us a favour and don't text me at 3:30am. I'd gone back to bed by the time it came through and the missus said the beeping kept her up all night - it reminds you every 10 minutes you have a text lol.

You watching the same LBM? Worst player on the pitch for me. The guy has no talent. We may as well play with 10 men as Luis causes more problems for his own team than the opposition.

Hard to get too excited about that performance. Glad we got the three points.

We lack a midfielder who can deliver a "killer" pass. It's sad we are relying on a 33 yo Peruvian for creativity in our midfield.

As far as Cole is concerned, he spends too much time with his back to the goals playing as a lone striker that when he gets an opportunity to score, he doesnt know how. He should have buried that header.

Freddie was ok and LBM tried hard (to fuck things up).

Next week will determine whether we play in Europe. Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs all within 7 days.

At least we have that 33 yo Peruvian!

Cole is doing ok in my books, he doesn't score enough but he's a real handful in the Wanchope mode. When Zammo returns they could be ok I reckon?

Agreed about Fred, jury out for me on LBM.
Agreed about Europe but funny innit, you can see us getting some change from these games eventhough they're tough as hell but we scrape around against the lower teams. Same ol West Ham.....sigh
