Assuming facts not in evidence. We turned it around cause Neill did something off field? Do me a fucking lemon. |
Neill was put in front of camera and not Reo-Coker - fact.
We bought experienced players in. Team dynamic changed. Do you deny that? Not saying totally LN but suspect he was part of experience telling existing players what needed to change. Noone had done before he got there.
Also not saying Tevez starting to play and score didn't change our fortunes but so did a solid defence of which LN was an integral part.

Keane could afford to be mouthy, because a) he was playing for manure and they are the golden boys who can do as they fucking please and not get called for it and b) he is the epitomy of a gutsy inspiring captain. LN isn't a shoelace in RK's boot. |
Just because we aren't manure, doesn't mean we should take it. He was an arsehole but a good captain.
Who in our team is a gutsy and inspiring and make a good captain. I don't see anybody greatly inspiring apart from Green and don't think keepers make good captains. Plently of gutsy players but IMO LN best player for it. Who did you call for as capt at start of season?

Fuck nose what game you're watching. And to know that he has the respect of the team? Mind reader as well apparently. |
'I think' tends to indicate IMO which seems to be what your bleating at that I have to read slowly. Try it yourself.

Yeah I'm a regular fucking aussie basher me. |
Thought so.

Did I say "all of our problems can be traced back to Neill"? No. You need to get yourself a 2nd eye Davros (pun intended) and look at what I actually said.
The balance sheet tells me that LN fucks up more than he gets a result. You've picked something he did last game - offset that against him not being at RB for the 1st goal when we needed him there. An then you've gotta dig up clearing the ball between 2 defenders (whoa he must be the dogs) and then go back to last season (regular fucking RK ain't he.) |
Hold on. You said much of our problems traced back to LN. What because he was on the pitch. Surely other defenders (Anton at spurs perhaps) had something to with it.
And what is this magical balance sheet. Is that the one where we have 43pts in 10th and had been fairly miserly in the goal conceding department prior to last week.

Not sure where you are getting Upson criticism from..the circles I mix in and read have been singing his praises for as long as he's been playing for us. |
Most sites very critical of purchase and performance in first few games.

A second ago you credited him for turning it round last season with what he did off field. Now you admit we don't have a clue about that shit.
We have done tremendously well this season given the horrendous injuries. But that ain't down to LN IMHO.
There's a whole bunch of reason's but IMHO none of them include the letters LN. |
So he hasn't contributed a single thing.

Lucas Neill did well last season to overcome an injury early on when we signed him. He was an integral part of our survival last year. This year he has been 90% bollox. I dunno but maybe someone has told him he is a wingback? Well he aint. He's an adequate right back but for some reason more often than not he gets caught too far up field. It's fine to attack from defence but you've gotta get back and defend as well. They teach you that at school ffs. He has been a liability for us at times this year, giving the ball away far too cheaply.
For the record, I'm English but my wife's Australian so I'm not allowed to bash Aussies. I don't want Cahill but I may trade my daughter for Torres right now (not really)
PS - I think Neill is an 'ok' captain. Don't think Upson is up to it right now. Perhaps Parker next year?

exactly. He was also diabolically bad last season before the last 9 games. He was perhaps the biggest culprit in us being where we were.
Parker or Upson would do me for Capt. _________________ www.whu-au.com

He was bought in late January. He was playing for Blackburn or injured before playing last 9 games for us. Hardly the biggest culprit in where we were.
Think you've just confirmed my suspicions of your anti-LN bias.

Concur....
Both have been inspirational when played. Personally I would choose Parker just in the hope he stays fit for more than 3 games. _________________

| Nah, LN's ok as captain. Hasn't done anything to warrant losing it IMO. Parker could do the gig but you can't captain from the physio room and Upson looks a bit quiet to me.

think or suspect all you like...if he's the rock and super captain you think he is why was there such an uproar when he wanted to have his contract upgraded to match some of the guys that came after him?
If I'm LN biased then you are looking through LN rose tinted glasses. _________________ www.whu-au.com

Why no everton thread! argh!
Anyway. After the first half i was dreadfully depressed :'(
I suggested to josh at HT sears on for lbm, and my god what a change. Despite being a bit shakey at the back, We were FANTASTIC! I Was enjoying it that much if everton had scored a winner at the end i wouldn't have cared, THATS how much i was liking that game.
Sears is what weve been missing in bellamny all year. A Genuinely fast striker who can run onto flick ons. he was so unlucky not to get that goal. I actually thought it was gonna trickle well wide and it hit the post!
Then Nobles beautiful play just before it, with the flick back from solano, inches wide!
I think tomkins needs to learn to play a bit better but on debut marking yakubu he did fairly well. For the everton goal i thought yakubu was backing into him before running through and scoring, but oh well.
1st half dull and getting dominated. 2nd half change to 4-4-2 and we wreaked havoc once we ditched LBM. I hope we start with what we had on in the 2nd half against sunderland next week (with the possible reintroduction of Upson).
Also i'd like to not concede within 20 minutes. Thats a nasty little habit we're developing.
I Said it before and i say it again, that was some of the most fun i've had watching WH in a long while. Wondeful attacking football and i hope it continues.
COME ON YOU IRONS! _________________

Mmm it was a great game to watch. I think a draw was a fair result for both teams.
Tomkins did very well on debut, nearly scoring after 5 minutes. He was unlucky when Yakubu scored but he recovered well and did a good job of pissing me off by keeping him closed down
I think the only gripe I had with the match is that the referee tended to play advantage, which started out good but got a bit annoying towards the end there.
All in all an enjoyable game. _________________

Great game (second half at least) As Risky said, great to see some attacking flair come again.
Tonkins did a solid job on debut, showing plenty of promise for the future. Sears added real spark and Mark Noble was absolutely outstanding.
Great pass from the great man Lucas Neill to set up Ashtons goal.
Hopefully we can see more goals against Sunderland (although they did have a surprise win overnight).
1 thing, how the fuck did LBM get another start???
